Hand2Hand

Black River is again partnering with Hand 2 Hand to help provide a weekend supply of food for our students. Anyone may participate. Please review the permission slip HERE for more details. The first distribution will be Sept. 8, but you may sign up at any time throughout the school year. If you have additional questions, reach out to Lauren Green-greenl@brpsk12.org or Megan Verley verleym@brpsk12.org in the elementary buidling.

Signed permission slips can be turned in at either main office. 

Vision and Hearing Testing

Black River will be hosting the Health Department for our yearly vision and hearing screenings over the next few weeks and the dates are included below. Parents that would like to exempt their students from this year's screening should turn in the completed form linked below to the main office by Monday, September 11th. 

Vision/Hearing Screening Exemption Form

This year the technicians will not be able to accommodate testing outside of the scheduled grade level. If you have vision or hearing concerns for a student that will not be tested for that this year you are welcome to call 616-396-5266 to schedule an appointment at an upcoming Health Department clinic.

Thursday, September 14
Hearing screenings for Kindergarten, 2nd grade, and 4th grade.

Friday, September 15
Vision screenings for 1st grade, 3rd grade, and 5th grade.

Friday, September 22 
Vision screenings for 7th grade and 9th grade.

Thursday, October 12
Vision and hearing RE-screens for those that missed, failed, or forgot their glasses for the Kindergarten - 5th grade dates. 

Food Service Help

Black River contracts our food service program through Aramark and they are looking to fill a full time opening in their kitchen staff. The position is full time, Monday through Friday, starting at 6:30am. Interested applicants should call Kathleen at 616-510-0200.
