December 5, 2019 - A Message from Shannon Brunink, Head of School

Breaking News from Lansing!

Last night, both the Michigan Senate and House of Representatives voted in support of supplemental bills that restore charter school funding!  This is huge news for us at Black River and means about $225,000 for us in just this year!

Thank you for your phone calls and letters to our legislators!  Without your efforts, this would not have happened!

Together - We Are BR!

Ratfest 2019 - A Great Night of Talent and Fun!

We would like to sincerely thank:

- our performers, for getting up on stage and showing us your many talents - you were awesome!

- our volunteers, for giving your time on a Friday evening to help make Ratfest run so smoothly.  We could not have pulled this off without all your efforts.

- our judging panel, for your enthusiasm for each performance and giving Ratfest a fun, new element.

- all of you who came out to support Ratfest.  Your donations will help with the purchase of new music chairs - something the music department is in great need of.  They will also help fund the Advanced Orchestra's trip to Chicago in February.  Thank you for helping to make this all possible!

Sincerely,  The Fine Arts Boosters Team

Drivers on Campus - Safety Reminder

Daylight Savings Time will be ending soon, and it continues to be dark in the morning for kids walking to school or even crossing the streets from many points around campus. Parent/Guardians and student drivers, please allow extra time when driving to school. We ask that you drive slowly, double-check sidewalks and crosswalks before turning, and generally be extra-mindful of students in our community who are walking to school. As always, do not allow your students to run in-between cars to get to the sidewalk at anytime. We encourage all parents to use the entrance off 20th and drop off at the Lyceum for the added safety it provides.

Here are a few helpful reminders:
