Please help to keep our campus as safe as possible by wearing your mask when picking up or dropping off your students.

Thank you!

2020-2021 Calendar Changes to Announce

Black River Families,

It’s not ideal to learn about calendar changes during an already chaotic time.  We have decided that it is in the best interest of students to make all scheduled half days (with the exception of scheduled exam days) remote half days.    We appreciate your grace and flexibility as we navigate an unusual school year.

The Master Calendar has been updated to reflect these changes but highlights are also included below.

BRPS Open Enrollment Period is Underway - 2021-2022 Lottery Information

BR families and friends, the open enrollment period has started! Applications for the 2021-2022 school year will be accepted throughout the BRPS Open Enrollment Period which runs from October 1, 2020 through February 24, 2021 at 4pm. Applications received at any time during this period will be eligible for the enrollment lottery. BRPS families will need to fill out an application if they have a new incoming student to BRPS for the 2021-2022 school year, including an incoming kindergartner! Currently enrolled students do not need to re-apply each year.

Contact Kelli Heneghan, Enrollment Coordinator, if you have questions regarding enrolling your student at Black River Public School. Kelli can be reached via email at heneghank@brpsk12.org or by phone at 616-355-0055 ext. 116.

College Rep Visits Continue Virtually!

While it looks a little different this year, we are excited to announce that we are still able to host College Rep visits this fall. While they will be virtual this year, students will have the opportunity to talk with a representative and learn more about colleges and universities that may be of interest to them.

Most Representatives are opting for one of two options, a virtual meeting for BR students or providing contact information for students to reach out and set up 1-on-1 appointments.

The first two virtual meetings for BR students will be this Friday, 10/2. Students in eligible grades will be receiving details via email.

Masks at BRPS Athletic Events

Black River is committed to adhering to the governor's Executive Order requiring our student athletes to wear masks for all sports activities listed in the Order.  Our students know that this is for safety and we all must do our part to end this pandemic.

Spectators at all BR athletic events are also required to properly wear a mask in order to be admitted to our events.  These masks must  be worn during the entire event.  Please know that spectators not properly wearing masks will cause a stoppage in our students' play and those refusing to wear their masks will be required to leave. Click here for the MHSAA guideline.

Thank you for understanding how important this is to all of us - especially our student athletes.
