The Book Fair is always an exciting time for students and teachers alike as the Lobby of the Main Building becomes transformed into a completely different world!  There’s nothing like seeing a child’s eyes light up when they find the perfect book to take them on their next reading adventure!

We are looking for a couple of individuals who can take on the role of chairperson or co-chairpersons of our Scholastic Book Fairs.  We are looking for energetic individuals with flexible hours who are passionate about supporting literacy among our students.

These individuals will be responsible for being the contact persons for our Scholastic Representative. They will be responsible for promoting and organizing the book fair, coordinating and recruiting volunteers, supervising the book fair set up/break down, will be the primary persons responsible for the register, and be available to open and close the book fair on a daily basis during the week of the book fair.

Never helped with a Book Fair before?  No Problem!!  We can provide a lot of resources and training to help make the Book Fair a success!  If you have any questions or are interested in becoming a chairperson please contact Courtney Phillips at

Message from Shannon Brunink, Head of School - January 16, 2023

Dear Black River Parents,

This week, we were asked by some of our neighbors for help with their parking situations.  It seems we have some Black River student pickups taking place at the red building North of our campus and also in the Baker Lofts parking lot.  Along with creating extra traffic for their property, in some cases, employees have been blocked from being able to leave their property because of the added number of vehicles. In addition, on one of the properties, they have had to repair fences multiple times because of cars brushing against them.

Please help us to be good neighbors to those around our campus and do not park on properties that do not belong to BR.  Pick-up can be a difficult time, but with our own lots and the parking available on the streets surrounding campus, I'm sure that we can find a way to make this a better situation.

Thank you,
