Mrs. Becky Bierma is one of the high school special education teachers at Black River Public School. This is Mrs. Bierma's second year teaching at BR, her fifth year working at BR, and her twelfth year of teaching. Mrs. Bierma graduated from Trinity Christian College in 1997 with a degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Vocal Music. After teaching middle school English and History, Mrs. Bierma pursued certification to teach special ecuation and has spent most of her teaching career as a special education teacher. She is currently in her final year of graduate school and will receive her Masters in Special Education from Michigan State University in May of 2018. She loves what she does, and her favorite moments are when students have those light bulb moments when it all just clicks!
Mrs. Bierma is married with 2 children (a girl and a boy) who both attend Black River. She's lived in Holland since 2010, but was born, grew up in, and spent most of her life in Illinois. She is a fan of all of the Chicago professional sports teams, but especially the Cubs and the Bears! Her hobbies include singing, playing guitar, reading, watching way too much Netflix, going to the beach, camping, hiking, and debating politics online.
