We want everyone who visits Black River Public School's website and campus to feel welcome and find the experience rewarding. 

 

Our Website

 

Black River Public School is committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability. We are actively working to increase the accessibility and usability of our website and in doing so adhere to the many standards and guidelines. The Black River Public School website is required to be in compliance with Section 504 and Title II of the Rehabilitation Act. Section 504 requires equal access and communication of electronic information and data so that it is accessible to people with disabilities.

 

 Users can click on the Accessibility Menu using the following button located  in the lower right corner of our website. Our accessibility menu is powered by UserWay. 

 

 

Some documents on the BRPS website are in PDF format and will require the most recent version of Adobe Reader which is available for free on the Adobe website. Please let us know if you encounter any difficulty accessing material on our website and we will work to resolve the problem. Our Campus
 

Parking

Black River Public School has several public parking areas with clear handicapped parking markers. Handicap parking spaces are located in the main parking lot on Columbia Avenue, the Lyceum and gymnasium building parking lot which can be accessed off 20th Avenue, on the southside of the elementary building and in the alley on the east side of the middle/high school main building. 


 

Campus Entrances

Middle/High School Main Building: The accessible entrance for all students, staff and visitors is located directly behind the main building at Door D. This entrance is locked during school hours and has a security pad and camera for entry. Please press the buzzer and the main office will open the door to let you into the building. Directions to the elevator are clearly posted.

 

Elementary Montessori School Building: The accessible path for building visitors is located next to the elementary building main entrance. This entrance is locked during school hours. Please press the security pad for entry. The main office will open the door after you ring the security buzzer. 

 

Lyceum and Gymnasium Building: The Lyceum and gymnasium building is located directly behind the middle/high school main building. The accessible entrance is located on the front of the building, at the eastside doors and is barrier free. This entrance is locked during school hours. Visitors must check in at the middle/high school main office and the office will contact a classroom teacher to watch for your arrival. 

 

Science Building: The entrance to the science building is located on the west side of the building and has a walking path up to the entrance lobby area. This entrance is locked during school hours. Visitors must check in at the middle/high school main office and the office will contact a classroom teacher to watch for your arrival. 

 

Restrooms

 

Middle/High School Main Building:  Accessible restrooms are located on the first floor, second floor, third floor and fourth floor. 

Elementary Building:  Accessible restrooms are located in the lower elementary hallway and the upper elementary hallway.

Lyceum and Gymnasium Building:  Accessible restrooms are located outside the main gymnasium and in the locker rooms in the auxiliary gymnasium. 

Science Building:  An accessible restroom is located in the lobby area of the building.

If help is needed, please contact or notify a member of the Black River Public School staff for assistance with any and all accessibility needs.  

 

Students with Mobility Impairments 

 

Students who require elevator access as part of their IEP or 504 plan will be issued an elevator pass by the Special Education administrator and the main office will be notified.

 

Students who need temporary access to elevators due to an injury or mobility impairment can contact the middle/high school main office to obtain an elevator pass. Approval by a parent/legal guardian, school official or a doctor’s authorization is required for elevator access.
