Sophomore MYLead Conference Information
Are you the parent of a sophomore? Would you like for them to gain leadership experience? Consider having them participate in one of the following leadership conferences this year. Both of them provide awesome opportunities to develop as a leader, meet kids from all over the state, and they also look great on college applications. The school is able to send one student free-of-charge to each and then other students can opt to attend and pay for the fee themselves.
BRPS California Wildfire Relief Effort

Black River Student News is hosting a Hat Day Fundraiser in the MS/HS building to raise money for the people affected by the California wildfires.

Our MS/HS students and staff are allowed to wear hats to school on Monday, November 19th if they donate at least $1. Student News will be collecting money on Friday, November 16 after school at 3:05pm, and during CAP/Lunch in the MS/HS main lobby. You will get a slip confirming that you can wear a hat on the Monday, November 19. Please make sure you have the slip with you to confirm you can wear a hat.

ALL PROCEEDS WILL GO TO THE WILDFIRE RELIEF FUND, so donations over $1 are definitely accepted. If you have any questions please email either Kristen Knieper at knieperk@brpsk12.org or Shannon Witvoet at witvoets@brpsk12.org.

Open Positions for the Fine Arts Booster Team

The school year is well underway and we still have a couple of open positions for the Fine Arts Boosters team.  We would really like to fill up our group so we can help the department as much as possible this year.  Please take a moment to read through the position descriptions below and see if you would be interested in joining our team.  Our meetings are held on the third Wednesday of every month at 5pm, usually in the Large Ensemble Room of the Lyceum.  We make every effort to keep them to about half an hour in length.

Here are the two open positions:

1. Treasurer:  this individual is a voting member of the Fine Arts Booster (FAB) group and attends monthly meetings to discuss ideas, help with event planning and vote on expenditures. The treasurer is responsible for keeping an accurate account of all financial transactions of the FAB and giving a treasurer's report at each meeting.

2. Orchestra Parent Representative - this individual is also a voting member of the FAB group and attends monthly meetings as noted above.  This role varies depending on the needs of the orchestra director and in the past has included activities such as planning a reception after an orchestra concert in the Lyceum.

Please consider volunteering your time to help make this year a successful one for our students.  If interested, please contact me at fineartsboosters@brpsk12.org.

Thank you!
