Travel to Spain for Project Term 2018

It's never too early to start thinking about Project Term 2018. If you are an 8th grader or a high school student and are interested in traveling to Madrid, Spain, contact Senora Gaffney (gaffneys@brpsk12.org) or visit the following link for more information: www.explorica.com/Gaffney-7980.  Stay tuned for information about student informational meetings during CAP and parent meetings after school.

Middle School Sports Information

Middle School Fall Sports begin on Monday, August 28.  Sixth graders are allowed to participate in Middle School Cross Country, 7th and 8th graders are allowed to participate in Middle School Cross Country, Middle School Boys Soccer, and Middle School Girls Volleyball.  Each team will start practice on Monday, August 28th at 3:15pm.  Middle School Cross Country will meet between the Lyceum and Science Labs, Middle School Volleyball will meet in the Main Gym.  Middle School Boys Soccer will meet on the north end of the soccer field (closest to the school).  NO STUDENT MAY PARTICIPATE IN PRACTICE OR TRY-OUTS WITHOUT A CURRENT SPORTS PHYSICAL ON FILE WITH THE SCHOOL.

Cell Phones During the School Day

We'd like all BR families to be aware of the cell phone policy. Please read below, and be sure to take a look at the student handbook for all current school policies!


Cell phones are not to be used/visible during class time unless a teacher instructs students to use them for class work. If a student has a question regarding whether or not they may use a phone, they must ask a faculty member. If a phone is being used without expressed permission, a faculty member shall confiscate the phone.

2017-2018 Back-to-School Information Back-to-School Information

It might be summer, but here at Black River we're getting ready for the students to arrive. The first day of school for all students is Wednesday, August 23, 2017. Check out the 2017-18 Back-to-School Information Packet.

Sixth Grade Field Trip

The sixth graders at Black River are headed to Camp Pendalouan on Wednesday, August 30th from 8-3pm. Please have your 6th grade field trip permission form turned in on the first day of school. Contact Trisha Byrnes, Chair of the MSPO at msblackriverpo@brpsk12.org with questions.

Watch your mailbox for more information and the trip permission form or access information via this link. Please return the permission slip and payment by the first day of school. This field trip is sponsored by the High School Parent Organization in collaboration with Black River.

High School Students: Request a Locker Here!

Lockers are automatically assigned to Middle School students. Locker details will be printed on schedules mailed in August.

High School students in grades 9-12 who wish to have a locker can fill out the Locker Request Form.  After submission, please watch for an e-mail with your locker number and location. If you have requested a locker before scehdules are mailed you can find your locker details on your schedule. Please contact Mrs. Heneghan at heneghank@brpsk12.org in the Main Office if you have any questions.

Yearbook Pick-up Information and Update

Yearbooks not picked up in July will be available for pick-up starting August 23, 2017. Please contact Katie Chester at chesterk@brpsk12.org with questions.

MS/HS Student Athlete Reminder

Middle School and High School student athletes cannot participate in team tryouts or practice without a MHSAA Sports Physical on file with the school. The physical must have taken place on or after April 15, 2017. The physical form is available in the main office or by clicking here.
