Science Classroom Change

Parent/Guardians of Black River MS/HS Students: Unfortunately, our science building will be closed to start the school year due to water damage. We are busy in clean-up and Mr. Ewald and Mrs. Miskelley will be working in classrooms in our Main Building. Mr. Ewald will begin the year in the MS Science Lab (Basement), Room 113 and Mrs. Miskelley will be in the High School Science Lab (4th Floor), Room 406. Signs will be posted to help your students with the change. Thank you for your patience!

School Security System Update

We are excited to activate the new security system for the Main Building! With the new system, visitors will need to push the call button to the right of the Main Entrance Doors and wait to be greeted then let in remotely by office staff.  The same is true for the Handicap Accessible entrance, Door E in the back of the Main Building with a call button to the left of the doors. This is much like the system that has been in place at the Elementary Building since the spring and there are no changes to that system at this time. We appreciate your patience as we get used to our new procedures. The safety of our students and staff at Black River each day is a top priority.

Fun Walk Friday Logo - Print.png

Fundraising period: Thursday, September 20th - Friday, Oct 5th. 100% of the funds collected by students benefit Black River!

Grand Finale: The BR community will gather together Friday, Oct 5th from 5:30-6:30pm to celebrate our school spirit with a 30-minute fun walk and festivities.

Calling all Elementary Students: Join Us for the 2018 Odyssey of the Mind Season!

Odyssey of the Mind is a unique program that offers students of all ages the opportunity to work together to solve a problem in any way they see fit.  Under the supervision of a coach, students can create skits, build vehicles, sew costumes, engineer electronics, and so much more!

Students solve their chosen problem by uplifting one another, thinking outside the box, sharing their ideas, lending their skills, and learning new ones.  Teams are made up of 1 coach, 1 co-coach, and no more than 7 students.  Coaches must be older than 18 years of age, and this year we’d like to garner the help of our Black River Juniors and Seniors and have them act as the co-coaches.

Save-the-date for Thursday, September 27 where an informational meeting regarding OotM will be held. In the meantime, visit www.OdysseyoftheMind.com to dive deeper into what OotM is all about.  With questions, comments, and to get involved contact Ashley Huizenga at odysseyatbr@gmail.com
