Hello everyone! My name is Elizabeth Spisak and I’m super excited to be joining Black River as a science teacher this year! I’ve lived in southeastern Michigan my whole life so this will also be my first year living on the west side of the state. I’ve always been a bit of a science nerd and I dreamed of having a career that incorporated science in some way.

I was originally a pre-med student, but I soon discovered that my true passion was sharing science with others through education instead. I graduated from Wayne State University, where I studied biology, and then from Concordia University Ann Arbor, where I studied curriculum and instruction for my master’s degree. As a teacher, it is my goal to make science fun and interesting for everyone, even if science isn’t really your favorite subject.

Outside of school, I have a lot of varied interests and hobbies that I love to share with others, including video games, DIYs, anime, learning foreign languages, and baking/cooking. I also have two sweet cats named Princess and Scooter who like to make things interesting at home.
