My name is Carrie Ames, and I'm the elementary Curriculum Director here at Black River.  I was born in Holland, MI and raised in the Grand Rapids area.  I attended Grand Valley State University, where I earned a Bachelor's degree in social studies and elementary education in 2009.  I am currently continuing my education at Grand Valley as I work towards earning my Master's degree.  

I live in Grand Rapids with my husband, Chet, our son, Elias, and our cat, Stella.  Elias was born in 2021, and he has brought so much joy to our family.  Outside of school, I enjoy hiking, cooking, traveling, and spending time with my family and friends.
