Hello!  I’m Kate Smith, and I teach Kindergarten here at Black River.  

I am a lifelong Holland resident, and love this community for its natural beauty and diversity.  I graduated from Grand Valley State University in 2020, and am currently pursuing a Certificate in Urban Education along with a Master’s Degree in Social Innovation.  

I have been a part of the Black River community as a parent, lunch and recess aide, substitute teacher, and teacher.  I deeply value Black River’s commitment to its students, and am honored to be a part of such an exceptional group of educators.   

I live in Holland with my husband,Bob, our daughters, Camden and Maysen, and our dogs, Pip and Cooper.  We enjoy traveling, playing and watching sports, and spending quality time with one another at home.
