Hello! My name is Jake Stid and I am the newest member of the high school history team! I worked for a year and a half in the Hudsonville Public School District before coming to Black River. I am teaching Civics, AP Government, 12th Grade History, and co-teaching the Youth in Government class.
I am lifelong member of the Holland community after my family moved back to the United States from Japan after my parents military service ended. I attended and graduated from Holland Public Schools where I was an active member of the football, baseball, and golf teams. I also participated in choir, theatre, and the forensic team while in high school. After I graduated I went to Grand Valley State University where I received my Bachelor's Degree for Secondary Education, Social Studies, and Health.
I continue to live in Holland and enjoy spending time with my friends and family around town. When I am not at school you can find me officiating football games from Rocket League all the way through varsity. I also enjoy to read, walk, and cheering on my favorite sports teams when ever they play. I look forward to working with the Black River students and wider community to create a vibrant learning environment where everyone feels welcome!
