Bio:

Hi! I’m Gina Johnson, and this is my second year teaching 4th/5th grade at Black River. I have also been a special ed parapro and substitute teacher at the school, as well as a mom of two “river rats”.

I am holistically minded and strive to reach every student in a way that works for them. I love to get to know my students and their passions, so I can link them into learning.

I studied at Hope College in the 90s and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Dance, Art, and Elementary Education. I then student taught in Chicago and went on to teach in both private and public schools in Minneapolis. I earned my Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Bethel University in 2006.

When I’m not at school, you can find me hiking with my dog, teaching dance or practicing yoga, drawing, dreaming, or relaxing with a good book.

If you are in my class, I hope you always feel seen, heard, and appreciated for who you are. I’m excited to be learning together with you!
