Elementary School Approach
Elementary School Features
Montessori Learning
Ms. Christy is an Upper Elementary teacher. She loves using a Montessori approach to teach her 4th and 5th grade students because it allows her to meet each student's individual needs as well as celebrate their unique strengths.
Project Based Learning
Elementary students enjoy many project based learning experiences. Kindergarteners observe eggs incubating each year and get to see the baby chicks hatching. They learn about their life cycle as well as how to care for chicks and other animals.
5th graders learn research skills through the Wax Museum project. They choose a historical figure to learn about, write an essay about the person, and then become the person for the Wax Museum presentation.
Book Vending Machine
River Rats love to read! Our students have the opportunity each week to earn tokens to put into the Book Vending Machine and choose a brand new book for their very own. They love seeing what new books are available!
