A Message from Shannon Brunink - June 11, 2020

Dear BR Families,

We wanted to let you know of the progress we are making regarding plans for the upcoming 2020-2021 school year.  While we will likely not receive guidance from the Governor's Work Group until some time in July, we have set a course for detailed planning.

Currently, more than 50 Black River teachers, staff members, and board members are working on "Operation Rat Return" through focus committees to understand how we can provide our incredible BR experience to students this fall.

These committees are currently working on:

  • Mental health and physical wellness for BR students, families, and staff

  • Instruction of students, with plans for remote learning as well as in-person scenarios, depending on the potential updated health regulations

  • Facilities updates to support student instruction with social distancing

  • Communication of plan logistics to BR families and coordination of parent support for understanding those plans.

While we do not have guidance from the state of Michigan yet, we will be prepared for school in the fall, and we look forward to sharing specific plans and procedures with you all as soon as we can.

Thank you so much for your confidence in this great school. We are BR!

Shannon Brunink, HeadRat
