A Message from Shannon Brunink, Head of School - January 25, 2021

Dear BR Families,

While we have had some mild winter weather so far this year, we have quite a bit of winter yet to come.  For this year, if it is necessary to call a snow day, please know that this will indeed be a snow day in the traditional sense and it will be a day off from instruction.

There has been a lot of discussion about whether our snow days this year would simply be remote learning days for all students.  There are a lot of great reasons to keep the instruction going on days when travel to school is not safe for students, but there are also serious difficulties in providing equitable learning opportunities for all of our students on the very short notice that snow days often allow.

If the snow days begin to pile up or if a longer break for weather is necessary, we will revisit this and likely provide support to make these days remote learning days for all students.

In the meantime, if we do have snow days, students should use them to their benefit to complete important work.

As always, snow day information will be noted on Wood TV 8, WZZM TV 13, WHTC, the Black River website and Black River phone message.

Stay warm!

Shannon Brunink, Head of School
