A Message from the Social Work and Counseling Team - December 9, 2020

Hello all! This semester has been very difficult to navigate for so many. With the end of the semester nearing, things seem to be escalating for some. We want to encourage any of our students to reach out to the Social Work and Counseling team (Tricia Schrotenboer, Lauren Green, or Annie Veld in MS/HS. Karen Scranton in Elementary) if you are feeling overwhelmed or struggling mentally/emotionally. We would love to set up a google meet to check in with you or connect you with resources. We also hope you will take advantage of our “Wellness tab” (listed at the top of BR homepage) that has additional resources.

Parents, please check in with your students. Ask them how they are doing. Be aware of any changes that may have occurred. Agitation, changes in sleep patterns, withdrawing, extreme mood swings, and talk of feeling hopeless are all possible signs that your student is struggling and needs additional support.

The Ottawa County page of resources is another useful tool and can be found here: https://miottawa.org/Health/OCHD/pdf/Mental-Health-Crisis-Brochure.pdf

During this time, we want to support you. Know that you are not alone in this! We are BR- and we are always here to help!
