Message from Shannon Brunink, Head of School - Friday, September 25, 2020

In order to allow this to happen, our school day will end at 2:15pm for our kids here at school.  This time is to help teachers plan for and deliver their remote teaching.  This does not necessarily mean that every teacher will be online and delivering synchronous teaching at 2:15pm, however.  Schedules may vary as some teachers may post things during this time or perhaps during their planning periods throughout the week.  Teachers will make it clear to students as to when they will have live Google Meets.  Also, once we understand what attendance will look like from students on Fridays, which allow for optional time here on campus, teachers may be able to work more time in for their remote teaching during those days as well.  Regardless of that, the students will have access to teachers through office hours, email or by phone if necessary.

In short, you can expect teachers to offer Google Meets for students to attend, but it is very likely that there will be some conflicts since multiple teachers may be doing their classes at the same time.  This is unavoidable since they are doing so much and also have similar schedules like the end of their school days ending at 2:15pm.  The great thing is that teachers will record these Google Meets so students can get the same information as our in-person students.  Also, our Google Classrooms will be in sync with what the in-person kids are doing which allows for smooth transitions in the case that MI goes back to Phase 3.
