Middle/High School Final Exam Update from Shannon Brunink, Head of School - November 30, 2020

Dear Black River Middle School and High School Families,

As you all know, this year has been incredibly challenging for everyone.  Because of this, we at BR would like to make a change to support our students both academically and in their mental health.  For this semester, our middle and high school students will not be taking final exams to end the semester.  Instead of these traditional exams, teachers will continue to work with their students on their important assignments so that our students might have even more support during a time when they most need it.

Through the end of this semester, teachers will be accepting late assignments so that our students who need this extra support can do this important work that they may have missed.  This time will also offer them the opportunity to show that they understand the material through these assignments, rather than through an exam.  For students who are all caught up in their work, teachers will be offering interesting extensions of learning for them so the learning does not stop!  Your student will be getting more information from their teachers very soon.

While this pandemic has been terribly difficult, we are hopeful that this extra support and grace will allow all of our students to get the help and support that they need.

Sincerely,

Shannon Brunink, Head of School
