Christin Lankheet (Title I Specialist, Department Leader ● lankheetc@brpsk12.org)

Teaching and children have been on my heart from a young age. I had amazing teachers who inspired and pushed me. As I child, I couldn't wait to become a teacher and instill that same love of learning. In 2007, I graduated from Calvin College with my Elementary Education degree and began my career at Black River in the Title I department; I've loved every year! Away from the classroom, I am blessed to spend time with my family: my husband, Justin, and our three young kids- Cora, Levi, and Lena. My favorite place to be in the evening is watching the sunset over Lake Michigan.

I have been trained in the following:

  • Fountas & Pinnell’s Leveled Literacy Instruction (LLI)
  • Evidence-Based Literacy Instruction (EBLI)
  • Orton-Gillingham: Red Words
  • Sharon Walpole Decoding Inventory
  • RightStart Math

Fran Olesen (Reading Specialist ● olesenf@brpsk12.org)

I worked for three years at Stepping Stones Montessori School, in Grand Rapids, before accepting the middle school English teacher at Black River Public School. Frustrated that the majority of my students were not prepared for the rigors of the Black River curriculum, the then head of school asked if I would like to create an elementary program. I agreed to the challenge as long as it could be a Montessori program, and here we are today. I was a 4th /5th grade classroom teacher until I felt it was time for the elementary program to have a Title I program. I love helping students find their inner reader and mathematician.

I have been trained in the following:

  • Reading Recovery
  • Fountas & Pinnell’s Leveled Literacy Instruction (LLI)
  • Evidence-Based Literacy Instruction (EBLI)
  • Orton-Gillingham
  • Sharon Walpole Decoding Inventory
  • EmPower Writing
  • RightStart Math
  • Lindamood-Bell

Lisa Barrett (Title I Specialist ● barrettl@brpsk12.org)

In 2016, I graduated from National Louis University with my Elementary Education degree. Shortly after graduating, my family and I moved back to Michigan, after living in the Chicago area for 17 years. This is my fourth year working in the Title I Department, here at Black River. The most rewarding part of working in the Title I department is seeing students grow as readers and as mathematicians. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Kevin, and our 2 daughters-Theressa and Mairi. I enjoy hiking, cycling, camping, taking road trips, going to concerts, and cooking for my family.

I have been trained in the following:

  • Evidence-Based Literacy Instruction (EBLI)
  • Fountas & Pinnell’s Leveled Literacy Instruction (LLI)
  • RightStart Math
  • Math Recovery

Adriann Divozzo (Title I Paraprofessional ● divozzoa@brpsk12.org)

I am from Ohio and discovered Holland as a Hope College student. Upon graduation, I moved to Portland, OR for two years and became an AmeriCorps volunteer and nanny. Passionate to volunteer abroad, we moved to Belize, Central America to support community development for close to two years. I taught third grade and offered art classes at the school for all ages. After our time teaching, we returned to Holland, where I worked as an office manager, substitute, caretaker and preschool volunteer. I've enjoyed working here since 2014 as a Health Aide/Teacher Assistant and in 2019 I joined the Title I team. I love watching young students thrive in individual instruction and develop into confident readers. My husband, Jason, and I have two children who attend BR. In my free time, I enjoy yoga, live music, and walking the beach with my dog.

I have been trained in the following:

  • Evidence-Based Literacy Instruction (EBLI) Sept. 2019
  • RightStart Math
  • Orton-Gillinngham: Red Words
