More Information (Directions)

Due to the school closing today, this event has been rescheduled for Monday, January 28.

The English Department will be hosting a 'Poetry Out Loud' competition. The competition will be held in the Main Gym. High school students will be competing, but it is open to the community.

This competition is in partnership with the Michigan Humanities Council, The National Endowment for the Arts, and the Poetry Foundation. It is a part of a national program that encourages high school students to learn about great poetry—both classic and contemporary—through memorization, performance, and competition. High school students have been competing in individual English classrooms, and the 20 classroom winners will be participating in our school wide event. The winner of this competition will advance to the state finals in Lansing on March 1-2.
