ADMISSIONS PROCESS
Welcome to Black River Public School! We are a nationally recognized public charter school open to all students through a fair and equal admission process. All students in a Michigan public school or with a Michigan residency are eligible for Black River enrollment regardless of home District. The 2027-2028 school year applications will be accepted throughout the BRPS Open Enrollment period, beginning Thursday, October 1, 2026 and ending February 24, 2027 at 4:00pm.
Families seeking enrollment for the 2026-2027 school year should contact Kelli Heneghan at heneghank@brpsk12.org. We currently have waitlists in all grades K-11.
Once the Open Enrollment period ends, all applications are placed in the enrollment lottery. Families will be notified of enrollment status via a USPS letter or enrollment packet by March 22, 2027.
Families can still apply for enrollment after the Open Enrollment period has ended. Your student will automatically be placed on a waitlist, and you will be notified of the status soon after applying.
