Poetry Out Loud Competition

On behalf of the English Department, we'd like to invite you to the first ever Black River Public School Poetry Out Loud Competition. The event will be held in the Main Gym on Monday, January 21st, and starts at 6:30 pm.

This competition is in partnership with the Michigan Humanities Council, The National Endowment for the Arts, and the Poetry Foundation. It is a part of a national program that encourages high school students to learn about great poetry—both classic and contemporary—through memorization, performance, and competition. High school students have been competing in individual English classrooms, and the 20 classroom winners will be participating in our school wide event. The winner of this competition will advance to the state finals in Lansing on March 1-2.

Please take a moment to congratulate the following classroom winners, and please make sure to mark your calendars for the 21st so you can see them in action.
