Teaching and children have been on my heart from a young age. I had amazing teachers which inspired and pushed me. As I child, I couldn't wait to become a teacher and instill that same love of learning. In 2007, I graduated from Calvin College with my Elementary Degree and began my career at Black River, and I've loved every year! Working in the Title I department, I have the privilege of seeing young readers blossom and mathematicians take off- "light bulb" moments which demonstrate a student's growth and understanding. I enjoy working one-on-one and in small groups with students to best support their academic needs!

Away from the classroom, I am blessed to spend time with my family: my husband, Justin, and our three young kids- Cora, Levi, and Lena. We love camping, bike and canoe rides, sledding and snow forts, and filling our driveway with chalk art while outside, and reading, puppet shows, and music-related activities indoors. My favorite place to be in the evening is watching the sunset over Lake Michigan.
