Odyssey of the Mind Volunteers Needed!

Attention all high school Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors: The elementary students will be participating in a program called Odyssey of the Mind, and they need your help to be successful! Odyssey of the Mind is a program that "teaches students how to think in different ways by providing open-ended problems that appeal to a wide range of interests.  Students learn how to identify challenges and to think creatively to solve those problems."  For each team of seven students, one coach and one co-coach is needed.  This year we are turning to the Black River High School students to fulfill the role of co-coach.  Students who volunteer to participate as a co-coach have the opportunity to earn community service hours, be a mentor and role model to younger students, act as a leader in an amazing program, and learn new skills.  Teams will meet once a week beginning in November and leading up to the Regional Tournament on February 2, 2018.  The frequency of team meetings is likely to increase leading up to the tournament.  For more information please email OotM Coodinator, Ashley Huizenga, at odysseyatbr@gmail.com.  There will also be an information night hosted in the Elementary Music Room on Thursday, September 27 from 6-7.
