  • Writing Prompts. Useful prompts for writing.
  • Children are more likely to become good readers and writers when their families actively support them. When you and other family members read with your children, help them with homework, talk with teachers, and participate in school or other learning activities, you are helping them make the best start in becoming confident and successful readers.
  • You can encourage your child to learn by showing the importance of books and reading. A simple way is to create a place where she can store books. You can also encourage your child to borrow books from the library, allowing you to spark interest in reading during school breaks and summer. If you are not sure where to start looking for books that appeal to your child, ask the librarian or your child’s teacher.
  • You can help your child's progress in Reading Recovery. Show an interest in your child’s reading, and encourage him to read books brought home each day after Reading Recovery lessons.
