About our project
About BRPS
Over the course of ten years Black River Public School has experienced tremendous and gratifying growth in enrollment and achievement. We have become nationally recognized as a model of a tuition-free charter school that's producing superior learning outcomes.
Our success is also our challenge. Black River is committed to remaining a small school, targeting an average class size of 20, and 80 students per grade. Present facilities, however, will not accommodate our student population. Cafeteria space is inadequate. We cannot continue long term with borrowed or rented gymnasium facilities. Our flourishing music program is greatly overcrowded in its present space. The time has come to undertake the next phase of our campus development master plan through construction of a school addition housing a gymnasium, multi-purpose cafeteria and enhanced facilities for the music program.
Black River is proud to present design plans for the construction of a new 20,000 square foot facility to house a gymnasium, cafeteria and music facilities. The project will include renovation of existing music rooms for additional instructional space for middle and high school grades.

The new building will be located directly behind the existing middle and high school building, with parking will access from Columbia Avenue and a newly constructed parking lot adjacent to the building.
